It is commonly believed that in the near future Christ will secretly come to call away his followers to heaven, while the rest of the world will be “left behind.” Those left behind will have to endure a period known as the Great Tribulation. Jesus will then setup an earthly kingdom, reign for one thousand years, and be involved in the battle of Armageddon. This doctrine is known as Premillenialism.
